Ray formed the group "Bojangles" in Houston, Texas in July 1969
Opened at La Bastille
Discovered there by Liza Minnelli and became part of her act during 1970. Opened with Liza at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. Performed numerous concerts, television and club engagements with Liza including:

- *The CBS Movin' Special with Andy Williams
- *The El San Juan Hotel (Puerto Rico)
- *The Concord Hotel (Catskills-Upper State New York)
- *Constitution Hall (Washington, D.C.)
- *The Auditorium (Famous Chicago Landmark)
Sole Owner and Proprietor of Club Bojangles 1971-1975
(highly acclaimed in Billboard and Variety)
Became regulars on The Steve Edwards Morning Show Channel 11, CBS - Houston, Texas.

More recently, Ray has worked in different capacities for Clint Black as a studio manager and musician, both in Los Angeles and Nashville. Ray has moved back to his hometown of Houston late last year and is resuming his career as a musician and performer.
